***Position will cover Southern CA region. Position will be home office based***

Shift: 8am - 4:30pm

Days: Monday - Friday


POSITION SUMMARY

Field safety position working with multiple inpatient and non-inpatient programs to improve safety and reduce injury exposures. The Safety Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of safety management programs, safety training, and the maintenance of Telecare’s safety policies and initiatives related to staff and clients. This position will partner with the Director of Safety and Workers’ Compensation and Operations in the development of initiatives to promote safety culture. This position will provide leadership consultations and serve as a technical advisor to Telecare’s Safety Committees.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

- BA or BS in Occupational Health and Safety or related field and/or comparable job experience, preferably in the medical or mental health field.
- Five to seven years of experience in Safety management.
- Knowledge and experience administering risk management and loss prevention programs.
- Through knowledge of current safety practices.
- Ability to prepare statistical loss analysis reports and prepare recommendations to improve controls and systems that reduce exposures to financial losses that may result from injury claims.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities, conduct training, excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Travel required, must have a valid driver’s license.
- Applicant must receive clearance from the Department of Justice.
- All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. If the position requires driving, valid driver license, a motor vehicle clearance and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. - Additional regulatory, contractual or local requirements may apply

Preferred:


- Certification(s): CSP, ASP, ARM OSHA 30 Hour Certification or equivalent preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Demonstrates the Telecare mission, purpose, values and beliefs in everyday language and contact with residents, the public and other staff members.
- Performs tasks correctly and according to policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with the Program Administrator in strategic planning activities with the goal of ensuring ongoing effectiveness of the safety programs.
- Establishes and defines standards which ensure that safe practices are consistently followed.
- Provide leadership consultations and serves as a technical advisor to Telecare’s safety committees.
- Establishes and maintains a comprehensive Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement safety program which includes frequent collaboration with the programs and the corporate office.
- Responsible for insuring that company-wide safety audits are conducted to ensure compliance with OSHA, IIPP and other safety program requirements.
- Review accident investigation reports to determine cause(s) and recommend corrective action.
- Help programs prepare for and respond to OSHA inspections and other safety regulatory agencies.
- Safety Specialist located in Northern California will oversee the corporate office safety program.
- Promote injury prevention, health and wellness.
- Design and conduct safety training.
- Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted and/or changed at the discretion of management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, twist, reach, pull charts, push carts, frequently lift and carry items weighing 10 pounds and occasionally lifting 25 pounds, perform wrist deviations, hand and wrist repetitions and do simple power grasping of 15 to 25 pounds, drive as well as frequently walk and sit.
