As a part of the Telecare Family, La Casa is licensed as a 190-bed Mental Health Rehabilitation Center (MHRC), providing assistance to adults with serious mental illness. La Casa offers evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for individuals who would otherwise be in a state hospital or acute care facility.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under supervision, the Rehabilitation Therapist provides rehabilitation therapy services to persons served, both on an individual and group basis.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:

  • B.S./B.A. in Occupational, Recreational, Music, Dance, Drama or Art Therapy or Vocational Counseling
  • 6 months of experience in behavioral health setting required
  • If employed at Inpatient Program:
    • Ability to assist with restraint of clients in the event of assaultive behavior
    • Ability to pass assault crisis/crisis prevention training
  • Ability to pass assault crisis/crisis prevention training
  • Position requires CPR, ProAct or CPI and First Aid, candidate must receive training within 30 days of employment and remaincurrent on those trainings throughout employment
  • All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification.
  • If the position requires driving, valid driver license, a motor vehicle clearance and proof of auto insurance is required at time ofemployment and must be maintained throughout employment. Additional regulatory, contractual or local requirements may apply

  • MS/MS in Occupational, Recreational, Music, Dance, Drama or Art Therapy or Vocational Counseling

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Demonstrate the Telecare mission, purpose, values and beliefs in everyday language and contact with the internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinates and provides rehabilitation treatment services for assigned persons served, including leading and co-leading therapeutic groups, developing therapeutic activities and writing group descriptions, and scheduling therapeutic activities in collaboration with persons served when possible
  • Coordinates outings for persons served and supervises persons served on outings. May require driving the van on outings
  • Coordinates special events
  • Facilitates community meetings and groups
  • Provides clinical supervision for Rehabilitation Activity Leaders, interns and volunteers, as directed
  • Participates in the planning of the Rehabilitation Program
  • Participates in the development of Recovery Plans
  • Completes assigned sections of the Minimum Data Set (MDS), annual comprehensive assessments, and assessments that accompany changes of condition
  • Documents observations and assessments, as required Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted and/or changed at the discretion of management.

SKILLS

  • Ability to observe, assess, record and report social, ADL and psychiatric behavior of persons served

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to reach, twist, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, climb and lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds or less as well as to frequently sit, stand, walk, and do simple grasping of up to 50 pounds. The position requires manual repetitions, deviations and dexterity and to occasionally drive.
