The Crisis Residential Treatment programs will provide short-term, 24/7 crisis residential services for adults ages 18+ via 16 beds at Telecare Magnolia House-Los Angeles, CA

Services will help clients in acute psychiatric distress avoid inpatient hospitalization, emergency services, and incarceration; regain their stability in a safe, homelike environment; begin working toward longer-term recovery goals; and establish linkages with stable housing and ongoing treatment.

On Call; Shift Hours and Days vary as needed

Wage range $19.90 - $28.72 Hourly - Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Peer Recovery Coach II engages, inspires and facilitates meaningful conversations with members which assist the members to explore, create and meet their own recovery goals. The PRC II serves to coach and guide other Peer Support professionals in the delivery of peer support services. PRC II provide peer services supervision in collaboration with the clinical supervisor and act as the peer services consultant to program leadership and other staff. The Peer Recovery Coach II may deliver educational supervision groups on the unique discipline of peer support services and the roles of peer support professionals.

Peer Recovery Coaches II provide consultation to the team to promote and reinforce Telecare’s Recovery Culture as defined by the Telecare Recovery Centered Clinical System (RCCS) in which each member’s point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into services and self-help programming. Additionally, Peer Recovery Coaches respond to critical situations with high-level engagement and de-escalation skills which support a least restrictive environment for members served experiencing an emergency related to a mental health/addiction challenge.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED required

• Must be at least 18 years of age

• Certified Peer Specialist and/or completed Peer Support Training

• E xperience must be two (2) years or part-time equivalent of experience supporting individuals with mental disabilities

• One (1) of the (2) years’ experience must be working as a Certified Peer Support Specialist as defined in OAR 309-019-0105(81) (Oregon only)

• Experience as a beneficiary of the public Behavioral Health system of care

• Successful completion of Peer Support Training or Peer Employment Training

• Must be CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment

• All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. Position requires driving, valid driver’s license, a motor vehicle clearance and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. Additional regulatory, contractual, or local requirements may apply

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Demonstrates the Telecare mission, purpose, values and beliefs in everyday language and contact with internal and external stakeholders

• Provides support and guidance to Peer Support professionals regarding the unique discipline of peer delivered services

• Acts as a role model for Peer Support professionals in the delivery of peer support services.

• Acts as a resource for program leadership and others on peer delivered service topics

• Draws upon own personal recovery experience with mental/addiction challenges as a basis for engagement as a peer with members served and to validate members’ own lived experiences

• Consistently utilizes recovery language and a strength-based approach to assist members served to reach their fullest potential

• Participates in the planning, organization and co-facilitation of Recovery Centered Clinical Service (RCCS) materials, self-help and recovery education groups

• Provides education and expertise from the perspective of a person with lived experience of mental illness to the team concerning various mental health/addiction recovery experiences

• Travels locally to provide outreach to members served in the community

• Participates in verbal de-escalation and physical interventions in emergent situations and is willing and able to assist other staff as needed to maintain a safe, healing environment for all

• Must assist with restraint of members served in the event of assaultive behavior and pass assault crisis/crisis prevention training

• Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted and/or changed at the discretion of management.

Position requires transporting Members in program van (acceptable driving record)

SKILLS

• Knowledge of recovery focused, strengths based work in mental health/addiction recovery

• Be willing to seek to understand members’ unique circumstances, personal preferences and goals and incorporate them into daily work as well as any needed crisis response to help the member regain a sense of control

• Have a strong understanding of recovery and resilience, the value of partnerships with members and member choice, and the balance between protection from harm and personal dignity

• Strong knowledge of relevant community resources and methods for accessing them

• Strong communication, writing, and typing/computer skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, twist, squat, kneel and lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds or less as well as to frequently sit, walk, reach, bend and do simple and power grasping. The position requires manual deviation, repetition and dexterity.
