Certified Peer Support Specialist

Telecare 's mission is to deliver excellent and effective behavioral health services that engage individuals with complex needs in recovering their health, hopes, and dreams. Telecare has over 170 programs and 4,500 employees across the country, and we are constantly growing and opening new programs.

The Windsor Center is a short-stay crisis stabilization unit (CSU) that offers 24/7 services to adults and youth. The Windsor Center aims to increase access to crisis services, reduce inpatient hospitalization, reduce the amount of time that law enforcement is involved in a mental health crisis, and strengthen the existing outpatient behavioral health services.

Shifts available:

  • Per Diem (As Needed)
  • Saturday & Sunday 7AM-3:30PM

What are the qualifications? (Must Have)

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Certified Peer Specialist and/or completed Peer Support Training
  • One (1) year or part-time equivalent of experience supporting members served with behavioral health challenges
  • Experience as a beneficiary of the public Behavioral Health system of care
  • Successful completion of Peer Support Training or Peer Employment Training.
  • Must be CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment
  • A valid and current driver 's license and car insurance
  • An acceptable Motor Vehicle Report

What will the job entail?

  • Draws upon own personal recovery experience with mental/addiction challenges as a basis for engagement as a peer with members served and to validate members' own lived experiences
  • Consistently utilizes recovery language and a strength-based approach to assist members served to reach their fullest potential
  • Participates in the planning, organization and co-facilitation of Recovery Centered Clinical Service (RCCS) materials, self-help and recovery education groups
  • Provides education and expertise from the perspective of a person with lived experience of mental illness to the team concerning various mental health/addiction recovery experiences
  • Travels locally to provide outreach to members served in the community

*Please note: Our clients suffer from severe schizophrenia, schizoaffective, bipolar I, and other diagnoses. Due to their severe mental illness, the clients you serve will likely have homelessness, justice-involved history, drug and alcohol addiction, comorbidities, and more. We use a person-centered approach, believing that recovery is possible for all people, and work every day to coordinate excellent care for the members on their journey to recovery. We believe recovery looks different for everyone, and we strive to individualize services to restore dignity. We serve our clients from a posture of respect, kindness, and non-judgment.
