Wage range $22.38 - $32.95 - Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.
POSITION SUMMARY The Short Doyle Billing Technician is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate billing for assigned Telecare California Short Doyle programs, including members served information , service entry (both automated and manual), claims processing, remittance advice posting, write offs, aging reports, as well as members served statements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Demonstrates the Telecare mission, purpose, values, and beliefs in everyday language and contact with internal and external stakeholders • Coordinates data entry of all admits/discharges into Avatar for Medicare and commercial insurance clients at California Short Doyle outpatient programs • Performs all service uploads from Caminar to Avatar for Medicare and commercial payer clients • Ensures accuracy of each upload by reconciling number of services in Caminar with Avatar data, investigating and resolving all discrepancies • Interprets Medicare and commercial insurance remittance advice forms; (i.e., denial and deductible information) and posts payments appropriately to Avatar • Accurately prints paper claims and submits them to appropriate payors • Manages distribution and storage of all remittance advice forms for appropriate programs • Maintains billing check lists for Medicare and commercial insurance • Effectively communicates with supervisor and other staff regarding any problems/issues observed while performing tasks Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, and/or changed at the discretion of management.
QUALIFICATIONS Required: • Three (3) years general office experience with one year of medical billing experience • High school diploma/GED • Some knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal/Medicaid, and commercial insurance • Ability to work and communicate effectively with corporate and program staff • Demonstrated capacity to work independently on multiple tasks • Demonstrated ability to multi-task using multiple systems while monitoring compliance with policies and procedures • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite • Applicant must be fingerprinted and receive clearance from the Department of Justice and The Office of inspector General • Must be at least 18 years of age • All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. If the position requires driving, valid driver license, a motor vehicle clearance, and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. Additional regulatory, contractual, or local requirements may apply.
Preferred: • Medical billing experience, preferably in mental health or outpatient clinic

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is constantly required to sit and occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, twist, bend, and lift and carry items weighing 10 pounds or less as well as to do simple grasping. The position requires manual deviation, repetition, and dexterity and to occasionally drive. Visual requirements include computers and books exposure.
