Shift: 8:30am - 5pm

Days: Monday - Friday

POSTION SUMMARY

The Cash Application Specialist is responsible for assuring accurate and timely posting of electronic and paper payments, denials, refunds and adjustments from third-party payers, government agency payers and patients. Ability to accurately run reports to reflect the performance of the Accounts Receivable Department. Must utilize working knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, patient accounting, contract requirements. Retrieve and accurately interpret Remittance Advice notices and Explanation of Benefits, Strong accounting skills, Excel/Word. Proven ability to multi-task, strong attention to detail, excellent time management and organization skills.

QUALIFICTIONS

Required:

  • Minimum 2-year medical billing/ payment posting experience
  • Excel/Word basic to advanced skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare reimbursement
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak English
  • Demonstrated capacity to work with automated billing systems within the healthcare reimbursement sector
  • Proven ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Adjustment Codes and Denials reasons
  • Daily balance and reconciliation of deposits with report generation
  • Maintain Excel spreadsheets for daily reports
  • Proven ability to work both independently and in a team environment, and coordinate with internal and external parties to ensure the proper application of payments and the resolution of receipt discrepancies
  • Exhibit excellent time management and organization skills to meet stringent deadlines and perform under pressure
  • Proficient in swift and accurate research to resolve issues
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Computer literacy, 10-key calculation by touch and keyboard speed of 40 wpm
  • All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of accepta le results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearance, excluded party sanctions, and degree of license verification. If the position requires driving, valid driver license, a motor vehicle clearance and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. Additional regulatory, contractual or local requirements may apply

Preferred:

  • Certified Medical Biller, (4) years of experience in healthcare medical payment posting or billing

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Demonstrate the Telecare mission, purpose, values and beliefs in everyday language and contact with the internal and external stakeholders
  • Process electronic payment files and other cash receipts as they are received. This includes:
    • Reviewing, interpreting and analyzing Explanation of Benefits information
    • Posting of denials and/or rejection files
    • Accurately post payments to Electronic Health Record or QuickBooks or Excel based Revenue Worksheets
    • Balance and reconcile all electronic remittance advice or other cash receipts to their respective source
  • Resolve unidentified cash and unposted cash errors

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is constantly required to sit and occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, twist, bend, pull and lift and carry items weighing 10 pounds or less as well as to do simple grasping.
