As part of the Telecare family, the Merrill Center Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) will offer 24/7 voluntary treatment to individuals ages 13 and above who are suffering a mental health crisis but wish to avoid a locked setting. It will use a welcoming, home-like environment to help assess the nature of the crisis, soothe and comfort the individual, and connect them with resources to avoid future crisis.  Services are recovery-oriented, and will utilize a multi-disciplinary team approach.

What are the qualifications? (Must Have) 

  • High School Graduation or G.E.D. equivalent and three (3) years of direct services in mental health or community services; or Associate's degree and two (2) years of experience; or Bachelor's degree in Social Services
  • Must possess at least 1 year of direct service experience with Crisis Intervention, including screening and assessments
  • Must be CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment
  • A valid and current driver 's license and car insurance   
  • An acceptable Motor Vehicle Report

What will the job entail? 

  • Collaborates with members served to create Recovery Plan goals and ensure all services described in the Recovery Plan are provided
  • Consistent with area of expertise, provides specialized services and interventions related to Crisis Intervention, including screening and assessments
  • Facilitates groups according to the needs and interests of members served especially regarding education and coping skills in the area of Crisis Intervention
  • Provides appropriate interventions in crisis situations
  • On a rotating basis, performs officer of the day functions for both wellness, duty and stand by duty tasks
  • Collects required data and completes required documentation
  • Coordinates transitions to lower levels of care
  • Maintains awareness of community resources and assists members served in appropriate use of community resources
  • Assists members served with all needs, including Activities of Daily Living

Due to their severe mental illness, the clients you serve will likely have homelessness, justice-involved history, drug and alcohol addiction, comorbidities, and more. We use a person-centered approach, believing that recovery is possible for all people, and work every day to coordinate excellent care for the members on their journey to recovery.
