As part of the Telecare Family, CHANGES uses an integrated approach to support individuals needing wraparound support services that fall under the intensive case management model. The program currently serves clients between the ages of 18-65 and up to 140 members.

Sign-on Bonus: $750

Shift: AM 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Days: Monday - Friday

POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Records Assistant performs clerical functions related to the medical record such as assembling, recording, processing and preparing reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Demonstrates the Telecare mission, purpose, values and beliefs in everyday language and contact with the internal and external stakeholders
• Performs tasks correctly and according to policies and procedures
• Performs the following medical record tasks:
o Prepares Data System Reports, as assigned
o Assists in the processing of admissions and discharges
o Assists with the preparation of the daily census, as assigned
o Provides backup for the Medical Records Technician
o Abstracts information to County via computer, as assigned
• Performs the following clerical tasks:
o Assists with the preparation of monthly reports
o Processes and photocopies requested medical records information
o Inventories forms and orders supplies for the Medical Records Department, as assigned
o Completes general and statistical typing
o Files and collates
o Assists with studies and audits
o Provides backup for the Medical Records Technician, as directed
Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted and/or changed at the discretion of management.

Position requires driving for company business such as trainings, offsite meetings, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
• One (1) year of experience in a medical setting
• High School Diploma or G.E.D
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment
• All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. Position requires driving, valid driver's license, a motor vehicle clearance, and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. Additional regulatory, contractual, or local requirements may apply.
Preferred:
• Experience in medical records
• Two (2) years of college training

SKILLS
• Knowledge of medical and psychiatric terminology
• Familiarity with medical records files and systems
• Ability to type 50 WPM and basic computer skills
• Ability to read, write and speak English
• Willingness to work with adults with mental illness
• Excellent public relations and community skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, and lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds or less as well as to frequently reach, twist and do simple grasping occasionally. The position requires manual repetitions, deviations and dexterity.
