North Sound WA Listens Support Specialists Talk About Services

WA-Listens-2color.png

This year, Telecare has been partnering with counties to provide support services for stressors related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

On January 25, 2021, we opened the North Sound Washington Listens program where staff provide non-clinical, psycho-education-based support to anybody in Washington with elevated stress due the pandemic.

Below, two Resource Call Support Specialists share how the helpline could be a valuable resource for individuals during this difficult time.

Providing Support and Understanding

Having been through the past year with being home and all the stressors involved because of Covid-19, I find it extremely rewarding to help others who have a common disturbance in our lives. Providing support and understanding that sometimes the restrictions do not quite match the "pandemic" landscape, we have been painted as a great conversation piece for like-minded individuals. Regardless of age, demographics, or political beliefs, we are all here trying to make through a generational event that will be marked in books and discussed for years going forward. Providing that support to someone, just needing a great conversation, is so rewarding. Honestly, even if it is just one call that you can feel a smile through the phone, I am set, excited, and happy to change that one person's day, month, or year.

Strengthening Communities One Call at a Time

The WA Listens line is a great source for resource information in your local area, anonymous support, and other communication support as well. COVID-19 has been rough for many people in this world, affecting our mental health day by day without even us realizing it sometimes. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. As a member of the WA Listens, I’m more than happy to assist anyone dealing with their mental health, isolation, or help locating services for local resources. Give us a call today, we’re more than happy to help strengthen our communities one call at a time.

Sharing a Passion for Helping Others

I’m excited to start taking phone calls because I am a people person, I love to converse. I am very passionate about helping people and I know that is my purpose. Being able to assist individuals who just need to just have someone to talk to or even get help is something I enjoy doing. When I received my first phone call yesterday, I got super excited because that means people are actually getting the word out about WA Listens! So excited, so ready!
