To celebrate Mental Health Awareness month, staff members at the Bakersfield Recovery Station shared some personal wellness skills that keep them going each day. They placed their “silver linings” on a board where staff could take a moment to read and reflect on when the work gets challenging.
Some of their silver linings include:
“Building intricate Lego sets.”
“Going to the gym while listening to extremely loud music.”
“Listening to spoken word poetry.”
The activity served as a reminder to staff that in order to provide excellent and effective services to those we serve, we must also remember to show ourselves some compassion.
